Summary of ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR TOPICS COVERED ON SEPTEMBER 21 2011

  • A- using the transformation tools (rotate,scale, reflect)
  • B-Use masks to reveal only part of an image, object, or design (command 7 create clipping mask)
  • C- Use fonts or dingbats. Download them at dafont.com
  • D- Add dark and light shapes with low opacity to create volume shadow and highlights
  • E- Use the gradient mesh tool to give objects volumetric quality as well
  • F- Use object > live trace > make and expand to translate raster graphics into vector paths
  • G- Use the symbol sprayer tool and custom symbols for repeated elements
  • H- Use option with the transformation tools to make a copy of your transformations
  • I- Hold down the "~" button while drawing shapes to drag them repeatedly
  • J-Gradients (linear and radial --- see the gradient pattern)
  • K-Repeat objects by holding option and dragging it (drag a copy) Repeat this by pressing Command D
  • L- Repeat transform using the scale tool

Assignment 3 ::: Using Adobe Illustrator Create your own Currency




Objective: Create your own currency. Using illustrator and photoshop make a fictitious currency. Study other form of money to be inspired. It should include detail and custom patterns that your create. Consider the function of money as well as how you can comment on its purpose both visually and conceptually.

I was going to use Photoshop, but decided to further explore my capabilities with Sumo Paint. I'm very pleased with the results.
