FINAL PROJECT - CUSTOM ART TOY

TOY DESIGN PROJECT

This will be our final project for the semester and utilizes all of the tools and programs we have used this semester.  Below are the steps you should take to complete this project. Look at other toy designs for inspiration.

Sketch out and brain storm  ideas. This toy could be based off one of your favorite movies, childhood toys, sci fi, fantasy, superhero, dolls, vinyl toy culture, or designer toys. Be creative and have fun. This is the time to brainstorm and put it all out on paper before you model and perfect your idea. Carefully consider the overall concept of the toy, who is the intended audience, and how the packaging informs and enhances the overall product. Use elements of design and especially form, color, and composition to create interest and appeal.

Refine your sketch and begin modeling your toy in TinkerCad or any combination of 3D modeling programs including blender, zbrush, cinema 4d, pottery.eu or sculptris .

Using adobe photoshop and illustrator create unique custom packaging for your toy. Consider helpful information about the backstory of your toy as well as other cool features. Study other toys and how they are packaged to fuel your ideas. Consider how they stack, how the draw in a potential customer as well as how they showcase your creation.

THIS ASSIGNMENT IS DUE AS PART OF YOUR SEMESTER PORTFOLIO ON MAY 1ST. YOUR PORTFOLIO SHOULD INCLUDE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS SEMESTER.

We will have a critique on this project in progress on Wednesday April 19th.

Midterm Portfolio - Marion Rookard

 The Lost Island Map:

Welcome to The Lost Island! My map is completely fictional with inspiration from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Slime Rancher, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Your character begins his/her journey in Arachnid Plateau, and from there you make your own choice in your direction! Will you follow the path toward ancient shrines or pave your own way and discover new places?
